Farewell Gabriel Garcìa Márquez

Gabriel García Márquez left us today, but his legacy will remain forever.

100 Years of Solitude has the best last chapter of any book in the history of literature, IMO.

"Porém, antes de chegar ao verso final já havia compreendido que não sairia jamais daquele quarto, pois estava previsto que a cidade dos espelhos (ou das miragens) seria arrasada pelo vento e desterrada da memória dos homens no instante em que Aureliano Babilônia acabasse de decifrar os pergaminhos, e que tudo estava escrito neles era irrepetível desde sempre e para sempre, porque as estirpes condenadas a cem anos de solidão não tinham uma segunda chance sobre a terra."

"Before reaching the final line, however, he had already understood that he would never leave that room, for it was foreseen that the city of mirrors (or mirages) would be wiped out by the wind and exiled from the memory of men at the precise moment when Aureliano Babilonia would finish deciphering the parchments, and that everything written on them was unrepeatable since time immemorial and forever more, because races condemned to one hundred years of solitude did not have a second opportunity on earth."

I'm back!

Yes, I was away from my blog for almost a year, because real life got in the way and I was mainly reading children books with my son.

Finally things are back to normal and I'm using my kindle again.

Even though I've been posting reviews again for the last couple of weeks, I'm doing a major work on my blog, and hopefully everything here will be ready next week.

Feels good to read what I love the most again!!!

One Ride (The Hellions Ride, #1)One Ride by Chelsea Camaron

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars contemporary romance, series

Biker Graphics

~Magickal Graphics~

cover 3 stars

I like the scenery, I could guess they maybe going on a trip. I would also have guessed they were bikers. But I don't think they resemble the characters at all, and when you post a picture with all the details showing like this, I usually expect similarities.

characters 5 stars

Doll: I really enjoyed her. She was a little princess, but as a biker's princess should be, she had spunk. She was not certain what she wanted from life, but she was not afraid to grab it, when it were presented for her.

Tripp: Tall, dark and hot (not handsome, he doesn't like it). A legitimate bad boy with a good heart. He was loyal, hot, responsible and hot! Yeah he was really HOT.

secondary characters: I've enjoyed several of them. I can see the authors has many future good stories to tell.

plot 5 stars

It was a fast-paced can't-put-it-down book.

The author painted a great biker's world. Family style, a bit shady, rough-tattoo guys, but still with their own code of honor. It was not too degenerated as in some bikers story, and it was not really mushy either. It really had the perfect balance.
The author was able to give a lot of information about the biker's world without loosing the pace of the story.
The story was easy to follow, with the POV switching in each chapter between both main characters. It kept me guessing for what would come next and the building intensity of the flow was perfect.

sex heat 5 stars

Wet-panties hot! Favorite scene... there were many, but I guess the scene a the pool table was HOTHOTHOT.
One thing, I wish the scenes with princess were as dirty and hot as with the hoes. Not because she is a princess that she can't play it dirty.

originality 4 stars

There is nothing really new. I knew how this would end it, but I did enjoy the detours along the way. It brought that freshness feel to the story.

editing 5 stars

I don't remember mistakes.

Impressions and opinion

I'm a crazy reader. Each time I start a book, I usually start 2 or 3 books at the same time. I read each until 50% and alternate between the three until I finished the stories.
Not with this one.
I couldn't let go! I didn't stop. That was how good it felt.

If you enjoy a hot bikers's story, this is your book.

I would read the next one today!

Anything less than a biker won't do. You crave the vibration of a bike, your arms around your man and the wind in your hair as the miles of pavement move below you.

If you're too much of a pussy to go under the needle for the opportunity to be completely creative with the canvas known as your body, then you're definitely too pussy to be with me.

Review: Wildfire Gospel

Wildfire Gospel (Santeria Habitat, #3)Wildfire Gospel by Kenya Wright

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars fantasy, series, romance

Devilish Comments

~Magickal Graphics~

cover 5 stars

It's perfect! If you follow this serie you will understand it all. Her fire, her hair, her eyes, her favorite color, the sparks.

Impressions and opinion

I'm not going to talk about it in details because I don't post a whole bunch of spoillers.

All I can say is that Kenya's mind is astounding. I have no idea how she comes up with these ideas, much important how she keeps weaving the threads of the series in which everything makes perfect sense in this fantastic world.

Review: His Black Pearl

His Black Pearl (The Thrall, #1)His Black Pearl by Jena Cryer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars bdsm, pet-play, non-con, some f/f

"No woman would ever want this. It's slavery. It's vile. It's evil. It's the complete opposite of everything precious and wholesome in life."

Cover 4 stars

I would by this book looking at it's cover. I would have guessed BDSM romance, D/s type of thing. I don't like a few things after reading the book, her earing, her shirt and the lack of a pearl at her neck.
I like the play with the black and white picture with the yellow of the title.

characters 5 stars

This book has one major character IMO, that is the female. The way the author take us inside Adair's mind is amazing.
I can totally understand and connect with her, even though I could not relate, because this was so far out from my reality.

plot 5 stars

It's amazing. The best pet-play book that I've read. It totally dehumanize the person.
The world built is rich, is well explained and we are not left with any holes.

It's very intense. It's breaking and reshaping a person. It's something so far away from my reality and belief that drew me in.

Pet-play is something that makes me really uncomfortable. It's not something that I can ever place in my fantasies. I've read many books on it, I've like many of them, but it's never something that I can relate or even connect with.
So, this book was not an easy read for me, but it was so fascinating. I love to read things that make me uncomfortable, that takes me out of the ordinary. It kept me wanting more.
It had the right amount of suspense and it kept me guessing and hating and loving. ;)

sex heat 4 stars

I'm not a big fan of f/f, but the scenes didn't made the book worst for me. It made sense in the story being portrayed.
Some good scenes, no amazing heat, but good.
I've missed a tail and some game back door.

originality 5 stars

Pet-play, dog-play, it's not original, but the way Ms. Cryer presented was. It was such a dehumanization without "real" body transformation that it was incredible.

editing 5 stars

I don't remember that many mistakes.

Impressions and Opinion

This is the kind of book that you finish and you are still uncomfortable. It's shocking!

It's something that I could never do. I would hate myself forever. But the author is such a GREAT writer that she made me understand and connect with Isa.

I'm really looking forward for Jane Cryer next book. If you like pet-play, you MUST read this!

Review: Raw

RawRaw by Belle Aurora

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars erotica, bdsm

WARNINGS

I'm not going to review this book as I usually post my reviews. I can't! I've tried and I've deleted a few times. Because at the end I want to give this book a 5 star review and I will! So, I don't want to analyze everything as I normally do. This book made me FEEL too much.

How can I not give 5 stars for a book that grabbed me for hours, almost making me forget my son in school? A book that made me laugh and cry, and FEEL so so much? IMPOSSIBLE!

This is not a REALLY DARK book as you are going to read around in lots of reviews. At least not for readers like me, that are used to really really dark.
This book is twisted in a way that plays with your emotions, that's why people that it's not used to really kinky read, reads just a little here and label as a really dark book.

RAW is the best word to describe this book. Because it plays with what you feel, it exposes you to bad and makes you like it.

Impressions and Opinion

At the blurb, the author posted a warning telling you this is not a LOVE STORY, but a love story that goes bad. I'm the love-HEA-so-much type of reader, and that warning almost stopped me from reading this book. I'm so glad it didn't.

I could see a few problems at the plot of the book, I saw a few typo mistakes, but IMO the connection I've achieved with the characters was so amazing that I felt their battles throughout the book and it overshadowed the mistakes.

Monsters don't always lurk in the shadows

Not everyone can be a fairy-tale hero. The World needs villains too.

That is Twitch, the main character. He is no hero. He is bad. The kind of bad, that is just bad. Never the good guy that is playing bad. Maybe life didn't give him many chances, it doesn't change the fact that he is bad.

There is only one way I fuck. Dirty. And this type of dirty... it doesn't wash off.

Yeah, this book is HOT HOT HOT. Panty-wet-the-entire-book, HOT!

It takes a strong woman to let go of her fears and step out of her comfort zone into something that makes her unsure, and even scared. I get you're an independent woman, and choice goes hand-in-hand with pride, but don't misunderstand me. A strong woman can also be submissive in bed. It doesn't make her weak. It makes her stronger than most. Putting your body into the hands of someone else... that takes balls.

Yes, there is some BDSM, without a label, in this book. The male character needs to dominate and the female character discover herself in submission.

Everything about him is raw. And gritty. And unbound.
He's a raging fire. And I'm a fragile moth fluttering into the flame. Sooner or later, I'm going to get burned. I know this.

Everything that happens is consensual and Alexa knew whom Twitch really was early on. She was never misled, she just couldn't get away.

Who were you before people started telling you who you should be?

It's a lesson of how much we worried about what others think of us and how much we judge by the package. Really we live in a world of labels, always believing that we have no preconceived notions.

Sometimes you gotta walk away for the sake of the people you love.

This book is about life and it's choices. It's about the paths that we take and the consequences that it may bring. It's not about HEA and love story. It's a slap in your face that says get real, stop jugding and start living!
It's about not being able to get away from love. Is there any such a thing as loving too much? Is about taking risks, even though you know it's going to hurt at the end. It's about hope, even when you know it's not going to end well.

I could see a sequel coming. I'm really hoping for it!

I recommend this book to anyone, as long as you feel that you are ready for feeling RAW! And if you like sex scenes.

Review: Predator's Kiss

Predator's Kiss
Predator's Kiss by Rosanna Leo

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

PNR, shifter

cover 4 stars

I could see this would be a romance with a bear-shifter in an outdoorsy kind of place.
I wished the title and sub-title didn't cover the bear.

characters 4 stars

They are all good characters with some promising future ones.
I wish Ryland were a more Dominant alpha.

plot 4 stars

I really like the idea of the bear-shifter and I was impressed and glad the author provide us with lots of info on bears, since they are not the usual shifter you find.

I like the "new world", the BB only for shifters. I like the teenagers struggling to fit in the world of humans.
I've enjoyed Lia's humor. :)
I really liked the real treat of the end.

I found it unbelivable they would shift in front of someone like they did with Lia, when they are trying to keep it a secret.

sex heat 3 stars

Some good scenes that I won't spoil for you.

originality 4 stars

Original setting, shifter species, teen problems and good twist at the end.

editing 5 stars

I don't remember any major typo mistake.

Impressions and Opinion

A promising shifter serie for me to follow. I loved the idea of learning more about bears.
Who doesn't like "Winnie-the-pooh"?

I hope I will be reading book 2 this week.

Review: Power of the Moon

Power of the Moon (Power of the Moon, #1)Power of the Moon by Tina Carreiro

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars PNR, romance, full-novel, vampires, mixed-pnr

cover 4 stars

In a book store, I would look at this book and think "vampire". That is what I see when I look at the woman. It's a good cover, but not amazing to me. I wouldn't be sure about the romance part, but I would guess a new series with a new heroine.

characters 3.5 stars

Cole - I loved him. He was one of the best hero I've found in a book for a long time. He is hot! He was the good guy that had his demon really close to surface.

Mia - I don't like Mia at all. Maybe I will like her in the second book of the series ( I will read the second book), but in this one she was part-time childish and part-time a BIT**, IMO. Really a pain-in-the-ass. I believe my only good moment with Mia, It was 72% in my kindle and it lasted until 75%. This was my struggle with the book.
I know the author explained the character's emotional struggles, but for me it did not justified her being that negative of a person for so long. She was a mood killer for everything and everyone, but poor Cole that was cheated by fate. (Really when the world has mark you to mate with "Ms. congeniality" you are in a bucket of bad-fate-luck)

Secondary characters - so many good ones, Mia's mom and Gonela really my favorites.

plot 5 stars

The story POV switches the entire book between Cole an Mia. I personally like this approach and maybe this is one of the reasons that I dislike Mia so much, because the author masterfully develop her characters's thoughts, feelings and emotions.

It's a fast-paced, well written plot. The story was easy to follow and kept me guessing all the time. I was very surprise and pleased that the "bad-guy helper" wasn't whom I previously thought it would be. The intensity level was perfect, Mia's "movie quotes" were fun and at the end of the book I wanted more.

sex heat 4 stars

The author was very smart with the sexual tension of the book and with the intensity level towards the end. The elevator scene, was worth for the entire book. HOT HOT HOT!

originality 5 stars

It's new! Tina Carreiro brought a lot of unexpected things, lots of new ideas. Really enjoyed her creativity.

editing 4.5 stars

Really minors problems in my kindle edition. A few typo mistakes and the repetition of quotation marks for nothing.

Impressions and opinion

I have to say the book is really interesting, because I disliked the female character so much that if the plot wasn't amazing I would have thrown this in the not-finished pile.
Really, what should we do when we like everything about a book, BUT the main female character?

I did stop reading when I was half way into the book for a couple days, just so I could mentally stop murdering Mia for a while to get back to the book.

I'm looking forward to she second book, and I've decided to put up with Mia, only because Cole is too much for me to pass.

I recommend this book if you like mixed-pnr.

We all have scars, Mia. They are supposed to make you stronger, not paralyze you."
